What fascinates me about these respective breakaway attempts is the failure to see the prime opportunity to send a message to the Irredentist-Invaders, their Revanchist-Abettors, and the Remittance-Economy-Fascist-Regime sitting at Mexico-City.
The obvious: name these areas with words that are NOT Spanish. (By refering to the "new" areas using these Spanish appelations, the welcome-mat is not being withdrawn. Consequently the Invaders believe that they are entitled to territory that is not theirs under treaty-obligations and the rule-of-law thereby established.)
To be PC about it, why not, in the case of South "California" use the word "Sequoia" instead. For South "Arizona" why not use the word "Hohokam" instead. (Personally, I would prefer to name the places "Vandenberg" and "Gadsden" respectively.) In fact, to create massive jobs-growth, rename all place-names within these areas in words other than Spanish. All, signage, maps, directories would thereby require replacement, creating thousands of jobs to accomplish the work quickly. (Of course the work would have to stay here, and not be outsourced.) The racist dissenters/liberal-abettors could elect to leave...thus the place-name change becomes also a much-needed loyal-test. Anyone who raises an objection to these ideas are not really Americans, and, well, the traitors are still traitors, but perhaps all the more identifiable. Most importantly, a strong message of E-Pluribus-Unum will have been sent in a completely non-violent manner by we-the-people...the citizens of the United States of America. Our enemies won't like this; so we must also prepare for war.
